Facing problems

Image
weren't expecting this problem but it's one we have to deal with. The music we choose for our video isn't working out. We wanted to go with separate ways by the journey. It would've been the perfect song for our film. It fits all the scenes we are including sad, happy, inspiring, etc. The problem is we have to email them to get their permission. The problem is that we emailed them and got no response back. This is a big issue because that means we can no longer use the song in any way at all. This is because it will be copywritten and we could even get sued. We didn't want any of those problems so we just decided to ditch the song as a whole. It really sucks but its just what we have to do. So now were searching for new music. if comes down worst case will have to go royalty-free. But royalty-free is supper boring and we wanted to make our film top notch. Well, research different songs anyways. we researched the same genres as before. Classic rock, rap, blue

final editing

Another piece of the overall project that we had to work on was the title design. The title design is one of the most important parts because it hooks the reader in. So we made sure to spend a lot of time and perfect it. We had our title chosen from the planning and everything. But one big problem is we were contradicting ourselves if it was good or not. We kept discussing if the title was still good. After a lot of discussion, we still couldn't come to a simple verdict. So what we did was we talked over with our group and decided on a vote. It was either we change it or keep it the same. We decided to just keep it the same. Then we split up into different things to work on. I started on implementing the title. I had to work on the transition and the colors of the words. I had to make sure the timing was right and it couldn't be to long or to short. Then i had to make sure the word color fit with the theme of the film. After I started to work on introducing the acto

filming review

I gathered my group together so we could discuss something important. We discussed how we were going to know if the film was filmed to perfection. We discussed who would be the best person to analyze our film. After discussing the overall verdict was Matthew Seyoum. He has a lot of experience in the filming and editing department. He works professionally editing youtubes videos mostly being gaming videos but he also does a lot short films. It was very difficult to send it as it took up a ton of storage. My computer couldn't handle the huge file and it crashed. Finally after multiple try's it worked and I was able to send it to him. He reviewed it carefully and made sure to right down notes of the pros and cons. He was very CRITICAL about our film and said there is a lot to do. He mainly focused on the editing portion of the film. He said the transitions must be cleaner and sharper. This way we can professional film. He disliked the sounds we used a lot as well. He s

Toutching up on our film

Once again we chatted with our group mates. We decided who was going to have to do what. We made sure everyone got something to do. This is so one would have to do everything. Also, it was to make sure there wasn't just one person doing nothing. We started with the editing. Matthew Seyoum are good friend highlighted that this was the piece of the film that needed the most work. The transitions were choppy and slow. We struggled with the transitions because we became stuck. We had no clue how to fix it. So I did some research and came to the solution of speed and timing. I was able to figure that out because of youtube videos. We speed up and timed the clips perfectly to get them looking perfect. Next, we started to work on the sounds of the film. The sound was a big problem the music particularly we needed to pick different music because of difficulty. But this was a problem that would require lots of attention. So we got to looking for different music over the next couple of days

continuing the filming

Image
After we had all the planning and materials done on the first day we were ready to film. The next day we wanted to start with the workout scene first. So we called up my buddy zane to see if we could use his home gym to film the scene. He said yes and we headed over there. We wanted to show a variety of action shots of the workout. Our goal was to make me look as athletic and strong as possible. We were able to achieve this with the correct angles and lighting. The lighting helped a lot but it was difficult to get the correct amount. We had a lot of trial and error testing different lighting to see what fit the best. Then we decided what workouts I was going to do. It was very two-sided on what we wanted to do jade and I both wanted an upper-body workout. Meanwhile, Ely and Hayden wanted a lower-body workout. I was able to convince them of an upper body workout. I hit bench presses, curls, pull-ups, dumbbell rows, and abbs. After we got all the shots it was time to work on

Onto the next scenes

Image
We had to start working more efficiently because the deadline was really creeping up on us. So we decided to film two scenes in one day. This was a big problem for the whole group. This is because it was going to take a lot of time to film these clips. It would require a whole two days in a row. So we had to have a big discussion with the group. People had work and sports to go to but we needed to film badly! So everyone compromised their schedules to film during the school week. We were going to film the workout scene and the post-game interview. First, we wrote down what we needed for the scenes. We decided we needed to find a gym for the workout scene. We also needed the basic workout equipment for the scenes. Along with classic workout clothes. For the postgame interview, we needed of course the classic business casual clothes. Most importantly we needed to find a place to film the interview. Then I thought what about my dad's business? It had so many meeting rooms

More filming

Image
We needed to film more clips fast. We were running on a tight schedule for the dateline. The problem was everyone has such a busy schedule. It seems almost impossible to get a day where everyone free. Ayden and jade are always working meanwhile me and Ely are at tennis practice most days. So I suggested we meet over the weekend. It was difficult to convince them because no one wants to waste there weekend. But i promised them i would buy them chick fila after if they agreed. Obviously they agreed after that and we got to filming. We went to jades house to film the therapy scene. It was difficult to find the perfect spot in her house to get the shots. After looking around for a little bit we found a nice seating area in her living room that was perfect. It took us multiple times because we couldn't take it serious at first. After getting all the laughs out we were able to get the prefect shots. It showed the connection between the main character me and the therapist - jade. A

We started by going over a list of what we needed. Then we picked out what was most important. Obviously, we went over what we had first. for example, I already had the classic football equipment. Then what we didn't have I called up friends to see if they had it. I had to call all my friends to see if they had a microphone or classic business attire. We needed the microphone and traditional business attire to film the post-game interview at the film's start. I asked and asked some more but it turns out my good friend Mathew had a spare microphone he could lend us. Unfortunatly no one had the traditional business attire we needed. I turns out I am a smaller size than all my friends. So we had to start looking. We needed a classic dress shirt, slacks , a jacket and a tie. We did not need dress shoes, socks, or pants because you will not be able to view it in the film. I headed to the mall in search for the stuff I checked stores like target, marshalls, and macys. We were

Picking the music

Image
One of the most important factors to a film is the music. I will set a whole different mood for what we are trying to achieve.  It will put a perception on the certain sequence. Also it shows the dialogue is sad. Lastly it shows if the character is happy or the fight sequence is heroic or the particular dialogue is funny, etc. We need music for our film that shows many different perspectives. Motivation, sadness, drive, power, courage, strength and weakness. So went to search for music that would fit perfectly. We split up in groups to search through different genres. I went with classic rock. Jade went with modern pop. Ely went with modern rap. Lastly Ayden went with old school blues. We all gathered the best songs we could find and then shared them all. It was difficult to pick just one we even had a split decision. In the end we decided to go with separate ways by journey. We picked this song because it provides a hype and chill vibe. We did this so we can switch through the

Learning how to act

Image
I don't have an enormous amount of acting experience but I have a solid amount. I was the main actor in all the films I created last year. I learned a lot from those experiences. I mostly learned the basics such as  Being able to understand and interpret a script.  Being able to memorize lines. Being able to deliver lines convincingly. Knowing how to use your voice to project emotion. Being able to understand and connect with your audience. I learned all these strategies from youtube. They helped me get through my first couple experiences but this time I wanna take it to the next level. I started studying professional films. Dramas especially. I wanted to watch films where the main actor is a man because it is easier to relate. I watched good will hunting which gave me a great example of the emotion I'm supposed to show in our film. Also watching sports dramas was even better because that is the exact purpose of our film. Movies such as hustle with adam sandler or creed wit

Roadblocks

Image
I woke up early on a Sunday at approximately 8:00. I immediately texted my group chat for media. I asked them if they wanted to film today. They all immediatly responded, Everyone thought it was a great idea. We were excited to film and we were gonna meet at the my dads office. We decided 3 o clock would be a perefect time so everyone could meet. A few hours later it was about 1 o clcock when it started pouring down. We all didnt think of it to much and we were still going to film because its inside. A little bit later it was lightning and thundering pretty bad, we all realized we couldn't film today because it turned into a bad storm and it was dangerous for people to be on the road.We then thought of a backup plan. We didn't want to just sit around all day and do nothing. So instead we came up with a plan to what we were gonna do when we actually filmed at the office. The plan consisted of props, acting, directing, etc. the plan is going to help us be more organized. This is
