·     The song we chose through research was the pursuit of happiness by Kid Cudi. 

 

Our research:

 

·     One thing we notice about his music videos is he uses a lot of high-angle shots to show him dancing. 

·     As well as tracking shot to follow him around as he sings. 

·     Another thing commonly used by him is the use of animated colors or added color.

·     There were bright color changes when happy lyrics or bright chords were struck, and darker colors when a more monocratic message or feeling is conveyed by the music. 

·     The themes of his music videos are often based around nostalgia and have a nostalgic feel. 

·     These were all achieved with the video editing to make the film have a "vintage" feel. 

·     The genre of the chosen song is hip hop. 

·     Watching the music videos there were very reoccurring themes in them in the portrayal of love.

·      Love is a very common niche used, whether it's presented by partners or metaphors. 

·     Jump cuts were used a lot in hip hop music videos to transition from the visuals to the rapper singing, and back. 

·     To illustrate sadder moods, over-the-shoulder shots are used to show a disconnection from reality the subject is feeling. 

·     To convey happier moments wide shots, colors, and action shots are used.
